Jackson's First Bath...

It was his first bath being "submerged" in water...well sort of. He went stiff as soon as the water hit his bottom. He cried in the begining but was okay after a few minutes.

Tomorrow marks a new chapter in our life. For the past two weeks I've been home helping Alicia and taking care of the kids. Tomorrow I go back to work and Alicia will be left alone. She's scared, but who wouldnt be? I know that Alicia will do fine and at first it may be a bit overwhelming but once she figures out a schedule with the boys, she'll feel better about it. I'll update everyone on how the first week went! I know that I cant wait to go back to work...she's crying because I'm going back to work and I'm crying cause I cant wait to!

It been a week since I last posted....and I dont have new pics!

A lot can happen in just a week....I'll start at Jackson's Dr. appt. Jackson is healthy and doing well. His weight as of last tuesday was 6lbs and 15oz. His dr. said she isnt concerned about his weight. He goes back this friday morning for a follow up.

As most of you know and have seen, Alicia, Christian and I were on NBC news last Wednesday. We went down to the ice cream house to play on the train and have some ice cream and NBC 10 was there. They did a segment on Jon & Kate and the drama surrounding them. If you have seen the video, click on the title of this blog to view it. First we were in the paper, then on tv, now we need to move to Hollywood and take our chances....lol!

Christian is doing much better with Jackson and is "playing" with him more. He asks to hold him and when Jackson is laying on his play mat Christian will get down there with him and play. Jackson is doing really good too, Alicia went to the concert with my mom on Friday instead of me...she really needed a night out to just have fun. I stayed home with Jackson and her mom slept over our house. He got up every 2 hours, eat for 3o minutes and went right back to sleep. He's really alert and loves being outside, it seems to reall calm him.

On Saturday morning we went to a parade in Wyomissing and I took Christian to one this morning. Just one more week at home before I go back to work...and in just a 4 short weeks my dad is coming out! Cant wait!

I promise to upload new pics as soon as I can....I just havent put them on the computer yet....

Day 2

We did leave the hospital around 2:15. Jackson was weighed before he left and he was back to his starting weight. The first night was fairly well. He didnt really cry a lot and wasnt up too much. On Sunday my mom and sisters came down and so did my Aunt Dee. They stayed for about 2 hours.

Last night was a little rougher....we were getting ready for bed around 8:30 and Alicia nursed Jackson one last time. He fell asleep around 8:45 and just as Alicia was about to go to bed at 9, he cried...we tried to soothe him but only the boob worked. He was on her boob until 3:30! I got up a few times and tried to help calm him but ultimately I went to bed, someone has to have energy to take care of Christian...

Alicia's been trying to pump in between his feedings so that I can feed him. He has his first Dr appt tomorrow morning.

Update

The nurse weighed him and he lost 5 oz but they said that was normal. Babies typically lose 10% of their weight in the beginning. Jackson had a hearing test this morning and he passed it. The doctor took a look at him and said he looks great. Lastly, the doctors came in to talk to us about his circumcision and as I type this they are doing it right now.

Alicia is doing well. She isnt in any pain...yet. Its coming! Hopefully they'll tell her that she is going home tomorrow!

ITS A BOY!!!!! again

Our newest bundle of energy was born at 11:42am and weighs 7 pounds and 3 oz. He is 20.5 inches long! Oh...his name...Jackson Parker Burns.

Everyone is doing just fine! Alicia is doing very well and is very pleased the way everything worked out. She was awake for the whole thing and was very responsive (unlike Christian were she slept). The only problem she had was that she threw up the medicine they gave her...As soon as he cried it hit us and thats when she cried uncontrollably! More pics to come!

Well...what a day she had

No baby! Alicia is really upset about it. They wasted her entire day….anyway. They told her to stay in bed and lay on her left side until Thursday morning.

New Development

Alicia got a call this morning from the hospital about her results from her 24 hour urine and blood tests. They want her to come back in today as soon as she can to monitor her. They are concerned that she has or is developing preeclampsia. She had this condition with Christian.

According to www.preeclampsia.org:

"Preeclampsia is a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period and affects both the mother and the unborn baby. Affecting at least 5-8% of all pregnancies, it is a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine. Swelling, sudden weight gain, headaches and changes in vision are important symptoms; however, some women with rapidly advancing disease report few symptoms."

Alicia’s mom headed up to the hospital around 9:45 to be with her and watch Christian since they want her to be monitored for 2-3 hours. I told her that as soon as she knows anything to call AND don’t do a C-Section until I get there!

I’ll keep you posted

Meet the Burns Family

We both thought that Friday was the day….it wasn’t. The baby is definitely a Burns, it’s stubborn! I left work at 12:15 to go to the hospital. Alicia’s mom came up too to keep an eye on Christian in case this was it. They hooked her up and saw that she was contracting, but not dilating. Her blood pressure was all over the place, either too low or too high. They discharged her because she wasn’t in active labor and told her if the contractions get closer together, come back again….The hospital is just a big headache!

Alicia’s mom came back to our house and stayed for a little bit. We had pizza for dinner and she left WITH Christian. It was very helpful, in case Alicia went back to the hospital and it was “time” and also because we still had a few projects/cleaning to do before the baby comes. We were able to get the basement cleaned and organized, the carpet cleaned, kitchen clean, backyard mowed, living and dinning room cleaned and laundry.

Alicia and I still slept in separate beds still…but we woke up around 7 and got to be lazy! We did have a nice day without Christian. I took Alicia shopping for new clothes at Old Navy, the clearance section! Lol She needed new clothes because she only wears the same jeans and same three stretched out shirts….she got some for now and some for later. We also took a 2 mile walk around Wernersville to try and jump start the contractions…nothing.

Christian and Alicia’s mom came back up for the Reading Phillies game, we got the tickets through work. We thought by going to the game it would help move along the contractions. Christian had a great time and seemed to understand what was going on. Got to see a few friends from work there…some I haven’t seen in a while. We stayed at the game for about 2 hours before we left. He was still awake and being so good so we decided to take him to the Ice Cream House and get some ice cream. Alicia’s mom left at 9:30 and Christian was in bed by 10, he was good and we missed him so we let him stay up well past his bed time.

For Mothers day we took Christian to Mohnton Park, everyone keeps talking about how great the park is. It was just like Kids Castle. Christian was over stimulated with things to do! He would play with one thing for a few minutes and run to the next thing…Alicia got the best Mothers Day gift EVER. She got a job! She went on Friday morning for an interview and starts July 1st. It’s a home daycare and the baby can go there for free! Its not the best paying job but it’s a job and she can help out financially.

Lastly, the Reading Eagle came out on Sunday, it’s the one that we are in! There are a few pictures and the survey we did! Check it out, either go to:

Could This be It?

Constant back pains...pain in her lower stomach area that comes and goes? She's calling the doctor shortly to see what they think. Alicia did everything they told her to do before and it didnt help, she took a hot shower and sat with her feet up...is this it?

Dr appt today

I just got a call from Alicia about her appt…Here’s what they said:

One question we had was how long she’ll be in the hospital. The doctor said that for a C-Section she will be in there for 3 days. Alicia is going in on Thursday and will be home by Saturday. They really want you in and out!

Alicia’s biggest question was she wanted to make sure she wasn’t going to be so drugged out during the C-Section. With Christian she was falling asleep and didn’t remember anything of his birth. The doctor said that with an emergency C-Section they use general anesthesia, with this one, since it’s not an emergency, they will do a spinal tap. Alicia will be numb from the waist down but still be coherent.

The doctor asked Alicia how she was feeling and she told them about the constant headaches, backaches and high blood pressure. She takes what she can for the pain but nothing works. The doc seemed a little concerned about it and asked her to come back tomorrow to get blood and urine test done to make sure there isn’t serious.

Also, she goes on Monday for her next appt and an ultrasound to see how the baby is laying.

8 Days

Were about a week away. There is still a lot we need to get done. Well, not really. Just things I want to get done before the baby comes home. Its like our nesting button broke. Neither one of us has the energy to clean. We need to clean the basement, at least.

We've been trying this new routine with Christian. He's been having a hard time at bed time, he doesnt sleep although he is tired. We do our normal bed time routine at 7:30. He doesnt fall asleep until 8:30-9! So we've tried this new routine where he takes his nap now at 10:30-11 instead of 12 and either wakes up or we wake him up at 2. That extra hour seems to make a difference. The few nights we've done it he's fallen asleep within a half hour! And the added bonus? His room has been clean every morning, usually its destroyed because he plays, but its been spotless! Hopefully this works. He still wakes up at 6 am though!

A letter from Alicia to the Baby

To: The Baby,

To the above tenant in possession of below described premises:

I am issuing 15 day notice for EVICTION. You will have 14 days in which you can either gather your belongings and promptly vacate the premises, or wait until the final day. After which, you will be physically removed from the property.

You are being evicted due to breech of contract and destruction of property. Expansions only to the FRONT of the house, within reasonable limits, were discussed. Not only have these limits been exceeded, but additions to the back of the house were also made! Remodeling and gutting of the home was never approved, nor was changing the initial layout and base structure. And due to property damage, there are now leaks in both the upper AND lower levels of the home.

On top of which, the landlord has received numerous complaints about nightly disturbances. After 14 days from this day that you don't comply with the notice will result in immediate and forceful removal at my discretion. Thank you for your cooperation

Love, Mommy
