Ironic, I was just saying how great Alicia was doing...

So I got a phone call at work on friday, it was Alicia screaming and crying. I couldn't make much out of what she was saying. She finally got out the words, "I fell". Not exactly what you want to hear when your wife is almost 7 months pregnant. All I could say was...go to the hospital. I left work around 1 and raced to the hospital, only problem was there was traffic, bad traffic. Just passed the Stowe exit on 422 they had the left lane closed so only one lane of traffic was getting by. Gram J stayed on the phone with me to help keep me calm. It took me over 30 minutes to get 4 miles. Some how, just some how I was able to get from Douglassville to the Reading Hospital in just 15 minutes....it was about 2:15 when i got there.

Once there, the receptionist seemed to know who I was and where I needed to go. She told me as I was leaving "what a beautiful son you have". When I got to the room Alicia was in, Christian was laying on the bed with her watching TV. Needless to say, he was very excited to see me! I asked Alicia what happened and she told me that she was walking back from the pizza shop and tripped on the sidewalk two house down from ours. She said the sidewalk was cracked and raised. In her one hand was her lunch, she said everything happened so fast that she didnt have time to put her hands down so she fell right on her stomach.

I stayed with her from about 30 minutes and then I took christian home. The doctor said everything looked fine. The placenta didnt tear and the babies heart beat was normal. She came home around 6:30 and was still in a lot of pain.

On Saturday I was going to take Christian with me food shopping and Alicia wanted to go. I told her the only way she's going is if she rides one of those electric scooters...she argued a little. Sunday we went for a drive...down 422 to Annville. We just wanted to see if there was anything interesting down there. There wasnt. There was a mall but it wasnt anything great. Kept Christian occupied though. We went to Home Depot to get pricing ideas for a few things and thats it.

Alicia starts her job today. Her new job is a paper girl! She picks up the papers on Monday and delievers them between Tuesday and Wednesday during the day. they told her she can walk or drive...the pay isnt anything great but...its $35-$45 a week! She seems really excited which is a good thing!

What an exciting and stressful weekend...for everyone.

Teller Session

Got our taxes done! Now we wait until the money comes...Alicia and I decided last night that we will not be going back to H&R Block anymore. For starters, the fee's are very high. Last year we paid about $900 for Alicia and I, that may be because we had to file in Arizona and PA but still....this year the fee was $250. The second reason we wont be going back is because the agent didnt include in our return the First Time Home Buyers Tax Credit. We had to ask her for it! I thought their job was to get us the maxium amount back? And when we said something about it she seemed to try and talk us out of it. One of the biggest reason we decided to buy a house now is to get that credit...and lastly, the office is too far away.

Alicia is doing really well so far! No problems or concerns. She's about 27 weeks now. We are taking Christian to a class at the Reading Memorial Hospital on May 2nd. Its about becoming a big brother and they have activities and snacks. Hopefully he'll like it!

Christian is doing really well with potty training. I have heard a few stories about how he refuses to go at other peoples houses but....he wakes up in the morning with a dry pull up, he knows when he has to go and he will. Were having a little trouble with pooping but were trying! He's really enjoying the time with Alicia at home. They go to the library for story hour every Wednesday and when the weather is okay they go to the park or play in the back yard. He's doing really well with his numbers and colors. Not so much the Alphabet!

Work is still that, work. Everyone feels the same way. I have off this weekend and next weekend. Its going to be nice. Spend time with Alicia, Christian and KC.

I just read two interesting things. The first article was about a proposed plan to put a SEPTA train service from Norristown to Wyomissing with a few stops in between. The only downside is that they proposed to make 422 a toll road and charge $2 each way. The article stressed that its just an idea and there are no plans yet to do it. The other article I read was about the stimulus package, more specifically the homebuyer credit. It said that the amount you can recieve is $8000 but you dont have to pay it back...I wonder about that...

The deal is we have to go out there for christmas but thats fine by us! He's not sure what days yet, maybe July because then the girls will be out of school. Fingers crossed...

The weekend weather was cold and crappy again. We all cant wait for winter to be over!

Sick!

Its my first day back to work...sad, though. I wasnt able to go to the doctors but I'm pretty sure I had some form of the flu. I woke up on saturday morning feeling really bad and I had to work that day. It got worse all day, I had Alicia come down and pick me up. It got really when we got home I started shaking and I laid in bed the rest of the day. I had a fever that went up and down and I was sweating profusely. My throat was swollen and on top of that, I was vomiting. Alicia and Christian went to her moms on Sunday so I can rest up and have some quiet time.

I called out of work on monday to keep resting up. Christian woke up after 11 hours of sleeping and sure enough he was sick...we went up stairs to check on him and he was just laying there, so out of it. He didnt get what I had. He only had a fever but today he's doing much better! I just cant wait to go home...

***UPDATE***

Shortly after Alicia recieved the phone call from medical assistance, she got another call from Robert Godshalls office asking about the situation. When Alicia explained how she got a call saying she was approved, the lady said that make sure you get the letter. If she doesnt get it within a week or two she is to call back to Robert Godshalls office and they will follow up.

Seems like they are taking this seriously! And yes, Alicia and I are planning on saying thank you. Since she still has a few things to take care of in Souderton area, she was going to stop in and personally thank them.

Guess what

Aicia recieved a call today from Robert Godshall around noon. He asked about the situation and said he'
ll make a few phone calls. About 2 hours later Alicia recieved a call from the medical assistance office...they said that her application has been APPROVED!!!!

Its bitter sweet. Its sad that we had to go to a State Rep for help but its happy because its finally over!
Thank you Robert Godshall!

We got so sick and tired of waiting and getting no where so i finally called today to get someone to help us...

Medical assistance will be the death of alicia and I! Alicia is calling every hour and leaving messages and getting no calls returned! I broke down this morning and wrote a letter to Robert Godshall, Montgomery County state Rep. about the situation. Here's the letter:

Dear Mr. Bob Godshall,

I would like to first say thank you for taking the time to read this, I understand you are a very busy man. I’m not who else to turn to and I figured you would be able to help. I’m writing this letter to you because I fear this is a problem that is only going to get worse and many women feel helpless because of this problem.

I applied for state medical assistance back in October when I found out that I was 6 weeks pregnant. I wasn’t working at the time and my Husband was unable to add me onto his insurance. I called twice a month for the first 2 months and they kept telling me they haven’t received my applicant. They told me not to worry that it can take a month or two until they receive it because they were so busy but I decided to have the clinic at Grandview Hospital (Happy Beginnings) refax it twice just in case. Finally I called on December 5th and they said they have received my application and I’ll receive a letter within 30 days. I was getting annoyed because I had hospital bills piling up. I am a high risk pregnancy and I have to be monitored closely. The representative from the medical assistance office reassured me that whether I am approved or denied that they will cover the bills, numerous people have reassured me of this.

On the 31st day I haven’t received any letter or phone call so I called them. They said that the application is still under review and that they needed another 15 days. I made it a priority of mine to call back every week until I heard something. I called back on the 16th day and again they said they needed another 15 days because their Pottstown office closed down and some people have retired so they are short staffed. Again, I called every week and on 16th day I called again. By now its been 60 days from when they received the application, when I spoke with a representative about my case they said I was denied. I asked why and they said that my 26 year old husband was trying to add his daughter onto the insurance. He doesn’t have any kids and he isn’t 26! I asked for a supervisor to call me back and they said that I will hear something within 3 business days. Nothing. After numerous attempts to get a supervisor to call me back they finally did, 2 weeks later.

The supervisor, Mrs. Dai was all I got, called me and said the “real” reason I was denied benefits is because they never received my application and that they weren’t going to cover any of the medical bills. I’m sure you can imagine how I felt at this point.

It’s been over two weeks since that phone call and for the first week I called every day to see if they received my application that I had to re fax again. I’ve only spoken with Mrs. Dai twice and they were both very short phone calls. She hung up on me because she had a more important phone call to take. I haven’t heard from her in a week and I’m calling every hour and leaving messages too. I am due in shortly over 3 months and I’m not sure if this problem will be resolved or not before the baby is born. I have bills being sent to collections now because I can’t afford to pay them. The bills are near $5,000!

I believe that this is a problem that a lot of women are facing and it’s very frustrating. I need a voice, we need a voice. Please if there is anything you can do. I’m not sure who to turn to anymore. You are my last resort. Again, if you could please help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time

I then decided to call his office to see if we could schedule an appt with him to talk about it and spoke with a very helpful Laura. I explained the situation with her and she said that she could help! She said SHE COULD HELP! We have to fax over the application that healthy beginnings has and we'll be good! I feel so relieved!

This Weekend

Worked again. Went to cals B Day Party...got to see the family. Always nice to see them, it so hard to because everyone is so busy. The girls slept over over on Saturday night because we were going to go to Ozzy's Family Fun Center. On Sunday the weather was actually nice! Alicia and I took Christian and KC to the park across the street. Granted it was still covered in snow and ice, we all had fun, especially KC! We went to Ozzy's around 1 and I had fun but I dont think anyone else did. Christian maybe but...Brianna didnt go with us because she wasnt feeling well so she stayed at our house, Lauren Alicia Christian and Nana came. Below are Pictures...
